We are proud to share that Afya Moja was presented at the “Italy–Africa: Collaboration and the Development of Local Skills and Capacities” event, hosted at the Camera dei Deputati and organized by Fondazione Centro Studi Enel, on 17th June 2026.
The project was presented by Prof. Leandro Pecchia, Vice-Rector for the Research at Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma and Coordinator of the project.
The day see the attendance of Lorenzo Fontana, President of the Camera dei Deputati; Anna Maria Bernini, Minister of University and Research; Lorenzo Ortona, Deputy Vice Coordinator of the Mission Structure for the implementation of the Piano Mattei for Africa; Anna Veronica Gianasso, Director within the same Mission Structure; and Paola Severino, President of the National School of Administration.
It also brought together leading academic voices, including the Rectors Stefano Corgnati (Politecnico di Torino), Francesco Billari (Bocconi University), Paolo Boccardelli (Luiss University), Donatella Sciuto (Politecnico di Milano), Elena Beccalli (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore).
From the international and academic cooperation perspective, contributions were also made by Abdulkadir Shettima, Director of the African School of Regulation, and Prof. Izael Da Silva, Vice Rector of Strathmore University.
The conclusions of the event were delivered by Federico Mollicone, President of the Parliamentary Committee for Culture, Science and Education.
Within the framework of the Piano Mattei, the discussions emphasized the importance of strengthening local skills, research collaboration, and long-term capacity building as key drivers for sustainable and inclusive development.
Afya Moja contributes to this vision by fostering collaboration between academia, healthcare innovation, and expecially African partner Institutions.
